LASIK Eye Surgery
This laser vision correction procedure corrects blurry vision, thus minimizing one’s need for glasses and contacts. This procedure is safe, non-invasive, and has a quick recovery time.
PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) Eye Surgery
PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) eye surgery—also called ASA (Advanced Surface Ablation)—is a LASIK alternative designed for patients who don’t qualify for LASIK. Some of the reasons that a patient might be advised to have PRK instead of LASIK are these:
- Have a cornea that’s thinner than what’s advised for LASIK
- Have dry eyes or are prone to dryness
- Participate in high-contact sports and are more likely to suffer an eye injury
This procedure involves reshaping the cornea to change the path that light takes through the eye. Although PRK has a longer and less comfortable healing time, it is minimally invasive, and low risk.
SMILE Laser Surgery
SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) laser surgery involves using femtosecond laser technology to create a precise, thin circular disc of tissue that’s removed through a small incision in the cornea. Healing from SMILE eye surgery is quick. Patients can drive the next day and wear eye makeup.
EVO ICL Surgery
EVO ICL is a refractive implant that corrects common vision problems like myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. Unlike other corrective procedures, EVO ICL doesn’t require the removal of corneal tissue and it is reversible. The procedure takes about 15 mins per eye. Most surgeons will do both eyes within the same day. The EVO ICL is often offered as an alternative for patients who cannot have LASIK. It can also, however, be offered to patients who are candidates for LASIK.
Corneal Cross-Linking
Corneal cross-linking is a vision correction surgery that treats keratoconus, which is characterized by a weak, thin, and bulging cornea. Keratoconus blurs your vision and increases your risk of developing irregular astigmatism. Corneal cross-linking involves adding cross-linked corneal cells, or cross-beams, to the cornea to increase its stability.
